white fillings

White Fillings are used for cosmetic improvements.  The Filling is Mercury-free and is made of a tooth colored plastic mixture filled with glass particles.  It is primarily used to eliminate ugly black fillings and for restoring tooth decay.  White Fillings incorporate the tooth and doesn’t weaken it as silver fillings do.

Also, because of technological developments, we now have the ability to make a much smaller hole than previous years.  This allows the material to flow in to smaller crevices and leaves more of your tooth intact.  White Fillings generally last between 7 to 10 years.

The procedure to place White Fillings consists of first removing the decayed portions of the tooth.  This leaves a hole, which then needs to be restored in order to return the tooth to its original form.  The tooth is then prepped with a mild acid solution.  Finally, the Filling is placed on the tooth in layers using a light that functions as a hardener for each layer.  To finish up the procedure, the new White Filling is then polished to prevent staining and early erosion.

Dr. Singh performs White Fillings procedures for the Walnut Creek, Contra Costa, Concord, and entire East Bay Area communities.
